Today we sit in our grief, tomorrow we sit in our anger, and then after that we accept that empire will never save us and we mobilize to create more just and safer communities and political systems.

[00:00:00] Today we sit in our grief. Tomorrow we sit in our anger. And then after that, we accept that empire will never save us. And we mobilize and create more just and safer communities and political systems.

[00:00:30] This morning, my daughter texted me the following message.

[00:00:36] Today we sit in our grief. Tomorrow we sit in our anger. And then after that, we accept that empire will never save us. And we mobilize and create more just and safer communities and political systems.

[00:00:54] And my wife said that this scripture, Psalm 94, helped her get out of bed today. Here are some excerpts about a minute's worth.

[00:01:06] Psalm 94, O God who avenges, shine forth. Pay back to the proud what they deserve.

[00:01:13] How long, Lord, will the wicked be jubilant? They pour out arrogant words. All the evildoers are full of boasting.

[00:01:21] They crush your people, Lord. They slay the widow and the foreigner. They murder the fatherless.

[00:01:28] Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?

[00:01:34] When anxiety was great within me, your consolation, Lord, brought me joy.

[00:01:40] Can a corrupt throne be allied with you? A throne that brings on misery by its decrees?

[00:01:46] The wicked band together against the righteous and condemn the innocent to death.

[00:01:52] But the Lord has become my fortress and my God, the rock in whom I take refuge.

[00:01:58] He will repay them for their sins and destroy them for their wickedness.

[00:02:06] Let's listen to it again in a different voice.

[00:02:10] O God who avenges, shine forth. Pay back to the proud what they deserve.

[00:02:16] How long, Lord, will the wicked be jubilant? They pour out arrogant words.

[00:02:21] All the evildoers are full of boasting. They crush your people, Lord.

[00:02:26] They slay the widow and the foreigner. They murder the fatherless.

[00:02:42] And the Lord has become my fortress and my God, the rock in whom I take refuge.

[00:02:59] He will repay them for their sins and destroy them for their wickedness.

[00:03:07] Today we sit in our grief. Tomorrow we sit in our anger.

[00:03:12] And then after that, we accept that empire will never save us.

[00:03:16] And we mobilize and create more just and safer communities and political systems.

[00:03:25] Be brave, stay safe, and God bless. This is Elton Sherwin.
